Biswajit-Nishikanta pair wins SDS memorial badminton title

Jiribam, August 27 2024: JIRIBAM: The pair of Mapu Biswajit and Nishikanta won the 1st Sagapam Dhana Singh Memorial Badminton Tournament 2024, organised by Jiribam District Badminton Association, at Jiribam District Police Multipurpose Hall.

The closing ceremony of the tournament held on Tuesday was attended by retired SP Jiribam Moirangthem Mubi, Jiribam CD Block Gram Rozgar Sewak Sagapam Ranabir, All Jiribam Sports Association president M Brajakanta, and Jiribam District Police OC Sagapam Ibotombi as chief guest, functional president, guest of honour and chief host respectively.

In the final match, the pair of Mapu Biswajit and Nishikanta registered a 21-8 21-14 win over Ranjan and Indrajoy to secure the tournament title.

Mapu Biswajit-Nishikanta received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while Ranjan-Indrajoy got Rs 30,000 .

Meanwhile, Homendra was named the best player of the tournament.
