In a veiled attack without naming anyone in particular, Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh has stated that some leaders who often express their love for Manipur and preach territorial integrity of Manipur are unwilling to travel beyond Sekmai and the same is unfortunate.
He made the statement during the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan held at Chumthang Shanapung, Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai, under Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC today.
Addressing the function as chief guest, Khemchand emphasised that Manipur which is home to 36 communities, needs leaders who can bring people together and foster unity.

He, however, said that some leaders continue to make nonsensical remarks and the same is unfortunate.
Although some people often express their love for Manipur, they remain unwilling to go beyond the valley and embrace all communities, he said.
Stop making nonsensical remarks, he urged and called for collective efforts to restore peace in Manipur and strengthen unity among the State's diverse communities. He stressed that mutual understanding and a willingness to work together are essential for the State's progress.
On India's economic progress, Khemchand stated that the country has been moving towards becoming one of the world's fastest-growing economies since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister.
He noted that India is now amongst the top four economies in the world.
Referring to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Chief Minister said that as India moves towards becoming a developed Nation, the people of Manipur must also contribute meaningfully to achieving the National goal.
He stressed that restoring peace in the State requires collective efforts, with all sections of society working together towards this objective.
Citing Singapore as an example, Khemchand said that while valuable lessons could be learnt from other countries, people must also be willing to learn, work hard and bring about positive changes in their own society.
Highlighting development initiatives in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency, the Chief Minister stated that roads in the constituency are now being constructed using the rigid pavement system, although the process required considerable time.
As part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, outreach camps were organised by 42 Government departments to enable people to access Government services, obtain information and avail themselves of various welfare schemes.
The programme was attended by Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC MLA Sagolsem Kebi Devi, Thanga AC MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh, Imphal West Zilla Parishad Chairperson RK Taruni Devi, officials of various Government departments, local representatives and members of the public.
