IWDBA clinch jr boys & girls' team titles at Inter District Badminton C'ship

Imphal, July 24 2024: Imphal West District Badminton Association (IWDBA) won both the junior boys and girls' team event titles at the 41st Inter District Badminton Championship 2024 on Wednesday.

The IWDBA boys' team outplayed Senapati District Badminton Association (SDBA) 2-0 in the final of the junior boys' team competition.

In the singles event, Lourembam Thoungam Singh fought back from a set down to secure a 24-26 21-14 21-14 triumph over his SDBA opponent Kyoveio Vemai, while the IWDBA pair of Borish Salam and Thokchom Hursh Singh defeated SDBA's duo Kyoveio Vemai and Pfoki Liruna 13-21 24-22 21-13 to help their team seal the title.

In the junior girls' event final, IWDBA beat Imphal East District Badminton Association (IEDBA) 2-1.Despite IWDBA's Leonie Tayenjam lost to IEDBA's Konsam Gunjan Devi in the first singles event, IWDBA bounced back, winning both the second singles and doubles events to get their hands on the championship trophy.

In the second singles event, Ashangbam Devika got the better of her IEDBA opponent 18-21 11-21, while the IWDBA pair of Chirom Bellarix Devi and Khangembam Senlina claimed a 21-18 14-21 16-21 win over IED-BA's Konsam Gunjan Devi and Laishram Nandita Devi in the doubles event.
