RK Imo fetes TRAU cricket teams, encourages football team ahead of Durand Cup

Imphal, July 27 2025: Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU ) cricket teams who claimed two major trophies namely 5th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy 2024-25 and the 5th MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2024-25 were accorded a warm reception at the residence of MLA of Sagolband Assembly Constituency, RK Imo Singh today.

The event organised in recognition of TRAU's recent remarkable achievements was attended by Jogeshchandra Haobijam, president of TRAU; T Phulen Meitei, secretary of TRAU, and RK Jiten Singh, club officials, team members, and well-wishers, said a press release issued by the PRO to the MLA.

Speaking at the event, MLA RK Imo Singh congratulated the players for their inspiring performance and dedication, which have brought immense pride to TRAU and the people of Sagolband.

He also encouraged the players to remain disciplined, focused, and determined, emphasizing that discipline is the foundation of long-term success in sports and life, it said.

In recognition of the teams' hard work, sporting spirit, and commitment, the MLA extended a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the TRAU cricket team and the TRAU football team, who are set to represent the club in the prestigious upcoming Durand Cup, it said.

The thoughtful gesture was warmly received by the players and club officials as a strong boost of encouragement and morale, it said.

The MLA also reiterated his commitment to promoting youth and sports development in the constituency and beyond.

He noted that such achievements are not only individual milestones but collective victories that uplift the entire community and strengthen Manipur's sporting identity at the National level, it said.

The event concluded with words of appreciation from TRAU officials, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MLA for his consistent support and motivation, it said.

They reaffirmed TRAU's dedication to nurturing young talents and strengthening the grassroots sports ecosystem in Manipur, it said.
