Imphal, July 24 2024: WPC, Wangoo defeated KNK FC, Keibul 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 regulation time draw to set up Kargil Vijay Diwas Football Tournament final date with FC Kumbi.

WPC and KNK were evenly poised from the beginning of the second semi-final match of the 4-team tournament and entered into the break goalless.

After the restart, L Gouro scored to give WPC the lead after 42 minutes but KNK FC clawed back their way into the game with Md Arshad scoring the equaliser in the 47th minute.

As the sides remained unseparated till the end of the regulation time, the match was decided via penalty shoot-out where the Wangoo team emerged victorious by 5-4 goals.

Lamjingba, Jack, Dayananda, L Gouro and Renel found the target for WPC in the shoot-out while Y Gojen, Arshad, Tomba, and Premchand scored it for the Keibul team.

The final match is slated for July 26.Yesterday, FC Kumbi drubbed UYT FC, Thamnapokpi 4-0 to confirm their place in the final.
