State Junior Handball Championship : YLK boys seal third straight victory, girls reach semis

Imphal, April 29 2024: YLK, Chingarel Tejpur girls reached the semi-finals in the 46th State Level Junior Handball Championships as boys inched closer to semis with third straight victory today.

YLK who opened the boys campaign with a 21-12 win over IMC, Thoubal yesterday, eased to an easy 17-4 win over MRC, Lilong at MRC ground, Lilong.

Four goals apiece from L Henba and L Bakham, three goals from S Keiku and two goals apiece from Th Abhijit, K Krinibash and N Adison fired YLK to the victory as Prabash scored twice and Santosh and Lara added a goal each for the losing team.

Later in the day, YLK stretched their winning run to three games by thrashing ESU, Wangkhei 21-10.N Adison, L Henba and K Krinibash scored five goals apiece as L Bekham scored four goals and Th Avijit and S Keiki netted one goal each.

For ESU, Yoihenba scored four goals and Devitson scored three goals while Raju, Saphaba and Goutam scored one goal apiece.

In the Group B match staged next, KVWA, Mayang Imphal trounced CYDOL, Lilong 17-6.Sh Roshikanta led the scoring for the winning side with 5 goals as L Naresh and A Manichandra added three goals apiece.

N Anish on the other hand scored the highest four for the Lilong team.

In the second Group A match of the day, BBA eased to their second win by defeating IMC, Thoubal 10-3.Richard scored the highest five for BBA as Wangthoi added thrice.

In the third Group A match, ESU edged past SSC 12-8 courtesy goals from G Raju (4), L Goutam (3), Yoihenba (2), M Debitson (2) and Dhanachandra (1) .

In the second Group B match staged later, OYO, Kongpal edged OYC, Thoubal 11-9.Ksh Premchandra (5) and Ksh Albish (3) led the scoring for the winning side as Rajesh (4) and Bikash (3) topscored for OYC.

In the fourth Group A match of the day, BBA thumped MRC 16-8 to extend their winning run to three games riding on significant contributions from Premson (7) and Intiyas (5) .

In the third Group B match of the day, KVWA sealed their second win by beating NSU 14-10.A Yaikhomba (4), N Naresh (2), A Premson (2), Biren (2) led the scoring for KVWA as Adith (4), Pritam (3) and Priyo (2) were the leading scorers for NSU.

In the 6th Group A match of the day, IMC beat MRC 13-9 riding on goals from L Veeraj (5), Vikash Yumnam (3), L Surjakanta (2), Th Mayananda (2) and Avinash.

In the lone girls Group A match, YLK sealed second group stage victory with a 7-0 thrashing of SSC, Khurai.

Livia and Nomika scored two goals apiece as Bijeya, Pitalika and Aliya scored a goal apiece in this one sided match.
