Imphal, January 16 2022: NACO, Nambul Mapal and NEROCA FC, Sangakpham defeated their respective rivals today to make their way into the quarter finals of the ongoing 12th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Football Tournament 2021-22 .

NACO, Nambul Mapal who got a first round bye took their pre-quarter final clash with WAFA today at SAI ground, Takyel to the tie breaker as both sides drew blank during regulation time and won 3-2 to book a place in the quarter-finals.

Only Md Esha and Th Rohit were on target in the shoot-out for the Wangoi team as Cho Tshering, S Amitkumar and N Steven made their attempts count and gave NACO a 3-2 edge.

Later in the day, NEROCA FC earned a hard fought 3-2 win over NESU, Khurai.

NEROCA FC enjoyed a slight edge in the first half with Md Aruwas Khan and Manglenthang scoring back to back in the 12th and the 15th minute before Sonit Thappa capitalized on a chance to pull a goal back for NESU in the 35th minute and made it 1-2 till the break.

After the changeover, hardworking NESU were able to come to level terms when Y Monis beat NEROCA FC keeper off a fortuitous opportunity in the 61st minute.

With the competition wide open again after the equalizer, the two sides traded some runs in search of the lead which NEROCA FC got in the 78th minute via Benjamin.

NEROCA FC then thwarted all moves from NESU to make their way back and cruised home 3-2 to set up a quarter final date with Classic Football Academy (CFA), Chingmeirong.
