Manipur return with rich haul of 40 medals including 17 gold from 9th National Open Taekwondo Championship

Imphal, June 04 2025:
State athletes brought home as many as 17 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze medals from the 9th National Open Kyorugi and Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2025 that was hosted by Odisha Taekwondo Association held from May 30 to June 1 at JN Indoor Stadium, Cuttack under the auspices of the T aekwondo Federation of India.
A bulk of 24 medals - 11 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze, were won by State athletes in Kyorugi competitions as 6 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals were registered in Poomsae competitions.

Poomsae
In the senior Poomsae competition, Irom Bijiya won two gold medals, one in the individual event and another in the Group event with Soraisam Lamnganbi and Sapam Nancy.
Soraisam Lamnganbi also won another gold medal pairing up with Ningthoujam Redash as the female group comprising M Priyadarshini, N Sania and W Martina won a silver medal.
Ningthoujam Redash had also won a silver medal in the men's individual event while W Martina bagged a bronze.
Elangbam Anganba was the only junior athlete to compete in the tournament and win a gold medal as Thounaojam Pamthoiba won a silver and Thokchom Chingkheinganba won a bronze medal in the subjunior individual boys events.
In the cadet poomsae events, a group comprising Sapam Bidyashree, Thounaojam Roshila and Thounaojam Christina won a gold medal as Pukhrambam Raischa, Thounaojam Roshila and Thounaojam Christina won a bronze medal apiece.
In the fresher's events, Bachastpatimayum Neevedhi-ta won a gold as Senjam Langonhanba and Naorem Maheshchandra respectively bagged a silver and a bronze medal.
Kyurogi
Ningthoukhongjam Sarina (U-47 kg), Senjam Langdai (U-35 kg), Smriti Leima (U-41), Aheibam Himajit (U-35) and Thounaojam Pamthoi (U-61) won gold medals in the sub-junior kyurogi events as Kangabam Yaichenbi (U-47 kg), Thounaojam Roshila (U-44 kg), Yumnam Pibarel (U-41 kg) and Yurembam Nongpoknganba (U-65 kg) won gold medals in the cadet category and Soibam Tina (U-73 kg) and Lambamayum Pradip (U-54 kg) in the senior category.
Hidam Princy (U-47 kg), Yumnam Humlenganba (U-50 kg), Kangabam Langei (U-41 kg) and Khumbong-mayum Dayananda (U-35 kg) meanwhile won silver medal in the sub-junior boys Kyurogi events as Soibam Babylia (U-47 kg), Thokchom Sibaraj (U-61 kg) and Senjam Langonhanba (U-41 kg) won silver medals in the cadet categories.
Mayengbam Priyadarshini also won a silver medal in the senior women's U-46 kg category event.
The bronze medallists in the meantime include Nongmaithem Arjun (subjunior: U-41 kg), Thounaojam Christina (cadet: U-44 kg), Pukhrambam Raischa (cadet: U-61 kg); Ningthoujam Surdeep (senior: U-63 kg) and Thangjam Jack (senior: U-58 kg) .
