Assam rifles hosts DGAR Hockey Tournament 2026

Imphal, September 19 2026: Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), inaugurated the 3rd DGAR Hockey Tournament for Men and Women at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.

The tournament, scheduled from September 18 to 28, 2026, is being conducted with the objective of promoting hockey, nurturing sporting talent and providing a platform for young and emerging players to showcase their skills and competitive spirit, said PRO IGAR (S) in a press release.

The opening ceremony was graced by chief guest retd Lt General K Himalaya Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM in the presence of the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), representatives of the media, prominent social media influencers, government officials, civil dignitaries, it said.

The distinguished gathering added further impetus to the tournament and reflected the collective commitment towards the promotion of hockey in Manipur, it said.

The tournament provides an important platform for players to compete at a high level while fostering discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship and camaraderie among the participating teams, it added.
