State paddlers accorded warm reception

Bishnupur District Canoeing & Kayaking Association (BDCKA), Moirang has felicitated its players who have won medals for the State in the 3rd National Inter State Canoe Sprint School Boys & Girls Championships 2019 and 8th National Dragon Boat Race Championship 2019 held recently at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The felicitation programme was attended by Commander 73 Mountain Brigade Manipur, Brig Sanjeev Kumar; BDCKA, president, Moirangthem Ashnikumar; Commandant 31AR Kangvai Post, Col Adarsh Kumar; Lamjingba Group, Chairman cum Managing Director, Jacky; Moirang Multipurpose Hr Secondary School, vice principal, Kh Sanayaima and retd Principal, T Manglem Singh as the presidium members.
At the event, M Ashnikumar said that the presence of Takmu Water Sports Complex in the State has opened the door for local player to win medals in both National and international event.
Conveying that the equipment in the said sports complex were installed many years back and had not been upgraded since, he asserted that the local players can reach greater height if the equipment are upgraded accordingly.
It may be mentioned that the State's paddlers brought home 12 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze medals apart from winning the top prize in senior women Dragon Boat Race, 2nd places in Junior Mix Group Dragon Boat Race and Junior Girl Group Dragon Boat Race in the championship held from August 21 to September 1 at Lower Lake, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
