Manipur Veteran Cricket : YWC cruise into final with 4-wicket win over CHAMP

Imphal, December 24 2018: YWC, Langthabal have cruised into the final of the 16th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2018-19 being organised by Manipur Veteran Cricket Association beating CHAMP, Khagempalli by 4 wickets at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium today.

CHAMP which won the toss and elected to bat first completed the innings recording a total of 168 runs for 9 in all 30 overs.

YWC, Langthabal did not find it hard to chase the target as they reached 169 for the loss of 6 wickets in 29.3 overs to book the final berth.

Robinson made the most of the CHAMP'S score registering 33 runs off 42 balls while Jodiba and Gulsonanda added 23 runs each before Ratan went out contributing 25 runs in 22 balls to make it 168 runs for the team.

YWC's Shashikanta picked up three wickets in this innings while Rojesh Kumar picked up 2 wickets.

Premchand and Gojendro also took one wicket each in this innings and helped YWC to restrict the Khagempalli side.

In reply, Samananda led the YWC batting front hitting a superb half century (58 off 51 balls) while Shashikanta who scalped three wickets, punished the CHAMP bowler and put up a good show making 40 runs facing 43 balls.

Umakanta also added 14 runs and helped YWC complete the target.

Ibobi of CHAMP was best in bowling in this innings as he claimed three wickets but other bowlers failed to impressed their fans except Homeshwor who had one wicket in his name.

YWC's Shashikanta who did well in both bat and ball, was adjudged man of the match.

CYCLONE, Thangmeiband will meet NAPSA, Kha Imphal in the second semi-final match of the tournament tomorrow.
