Imphal, March 19 2021: Thoubal District Polo Association-B and Tekcham Polo Club-A posted contrasting wins today to move into the semi-finals of the 1st Thoubal District Polo Tournament organised by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association at Tekcham Kangjeibung.

In the first match of the day, Thoubal District Polo Association-B beat Tentha Polo Club-B 2-1 in a dull encounter.

Neither team could slot the opener till halfway but the two teams scored all the three goals of the game in the third chukker.

M Bikram Singh and Th Pamheiba were on target for the Thoubal District Polo Association-B and S Bishal Singh was the lone scorer for the losing team.

Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, Tekcham Polo Club-A romped to a 7-1 win against IKL, Khangabok.

Tekcham Polo Club-A made a good start to the game and were 2-0 ahead with S Ranjit and L Kokeshwar scoring a goal each.

Ranjit added another in the second chukker as the Khangabok side toiled hard to open their scoring account.

M Kuper then scored his first to help Tekcham Polo Club take a convincing 4-0 lead till halfway.

Carrying forward the scoring spree, S Sadananda extended Tekcham Polo Club's lead to 5-0 before M Doren and M Kuper pumped in a goal each to make it 7-0 past IKL.

IKL which were misfiring in the earlier chukker found a consolation goal in the last minute of the final chukker and made the final scoreline read 7-1 in favour of the Tekcham team.

Khuman Polo Club will play Tentha Polo Club-A in the next quarterfinal match tomorrow before Thoubal District Polo Association-A play Samurou Polo Club later in the last quarterfinal match.
