Imphal East crowned team champions of State Boxing C'ships

Imphal, July 27 2025: Imphal East emerged as the overall team champions at the State Level Boxing Championships 2025, which wrapped on Sunday.

The tournament featured multiple age and gender categories - U-15, U-17, U-19, and Elite divisions - drawing participation from 10 districts across Manipur.

Both Imphal East and Imphal West clinched 13 gold medals each, but Imphal East took the top spot with a stronger overall tally of 29 medals (13 gold, 11 silver, and 5 bronze), amassing 80 tally points.

Imphal West, with a total of 23 medals (13 gold, 6 silver, 4 bronze), secured second place with 59 points.

Kakching and Bishnupur each finished with 30 points, but Bishnupur was declared third overall thanks to a higher medal count of 25 (4 gold, 9 silver, 12 bronze) compared to Kakching's 20 (5 gold, 5 silver, 10 bronze) .

Thoubal also put up a strong performance with 27 medals (5 gold, 10 silver, 12 bronze), finishing just behind with 29 points.

Other teams included Ukhrul (15 points), Tamenglong (5), Churachandpur (5), Noney (0), and Chandel (0) .

A total of 44 gold, 44 silver, and 53 bronze medals were awarded during the week-long championship organised under the aegis of the Manipur Amateur Boxing Association (MABA) .

Individual honours:

The Best Boxer awards were both claimed by boxers from Imphal West.

Moirangthem Khrismira Devi earned the accolade in the U17 (46 kg) female division, and Konjengbam Roshan Meitei took the honour in the Elite (60 kg) male category.

The title of Best Performer of the Championship was awarded to Radhamani Longjam of Imphal West, who competed in the U17 (57 kg) female category.

Most Promising Boxer awards went to Maria Pame of Tamenglong in the U17 (52 kg) female division, and Chingrihor Shatshang of Ukhrul in the U19 (50 kg) male category.

Meanwhile, Best Challenging Boxer titles were awarded to Taniya Laishram of Imphal East (U17, 46 kg, female) and Maisam Renson Singh of Kakching (U17, 46 kg, male) .
