Polo: S Africa, Manipur A gallop to big wins

Imphal, February 17 2023: Manipur A (India) and South Africa inflicted heavy defeats on their respective opponents on the third day of the 6th International Women's Polo Toumament 2023 .

The day's first match saw Manipur A produce a 10-0 hammering of IPA (India) as Kh Deventy Devi and M Priya Devi claimed a treble each in their emphatic win at Mapal Kangjeibung (Pologround) on Friday.

The state riders galloped to a 3-0 lead in the opening chukker where Kh Deventy scored twice and M Priya got a single.

In the second chukker, Priya completed her three goal salvo to put Manipur 5-0 up before Y Ranjita and Kh Habe scored a goal each in the third chukker to further stretch their lead.

Then the state team closed out the game with three goals in the fourth chukker through Habe, Lucy L and Deventy.

South Africa, meanwhile, recorded their third straight win with a 7-2 drubbing of Manipur B (India) .

After a barren first chukker, South Africa roared into action in the next chukker to pump in four goals with a double from Amy Michelle Gace and one each from Tessa Leia Sarah Moxon and Vermaak Alida Brenda.

They collected two more goals in the third chukker through Amy Michelle (her third goal) and Tessa Leia while Th Sanajaobi pulled back a goal for Manipur B in the chukker.

In the fourth chukker, South Africa added a goal through Vermaak Alida (her second goal) to register their third win on the trot.

Manipur B's second goal in the last chukker was scored by Neelu RK .
