Young state taekwondo athletes accorded warm welcome

Imphal, January 02 2025:
Manipur's young taekwondo athletes, who achieved remarkable success at the 5th Open National Taekwondo Championship held in Kolkata from December 27 to 29, 2024, were given a warm reception upon their return to Imphal Airport on Thursday.
The team, led by Sekmai Awang Taekwondo Academy coach Naoba, was greeted with garlands and accolades.

In the competition, Peter Meitei and Samurailatpam Bidyananda Sharma secured gold medals, while Shatgash-isi Mutum earned silver in the sub-junior boys' Kyorugi category.
Aishwariya Rai also bagged a silver medal in the sub-junior girls' Kyorugi Category.
In the cadet boys' category, Heisnam Abdash Singh, Seshmani Soram, Thaodem Khagemba Meitei, and Gyani Rozer Konjengbam claimed gold medals, while in the cadet girls' category, Thangjam Tomthinganbi, Mayengba Telesia Devi, and Kritiva Thangjam each won gold, with Jeniffer Potsangbam earning silver.
In the Poomsae individual cadet girls' event, Mayengbam Telesia Devi achieved gold, while Thaodem Khagemba Meitei secured gold in the cadet boys' event, and Heisnam Abdash Singh took bronze.
Additionally, in the Poomsae individual cadet girls' fresher event, Kritibmva Thangjam claimed a gold medal.
