MU archers, athlete shine at inter-varsity tourney

Imphal, December 30 2024: Manipur University archery and athletic teams/players have won multiple medals at the All India Inter University Archery Championship 2024-25 and All India Inter University Athletics Meet 2024-25 .

In archery tournament held at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, Odisha from December 24 to 27, L Rojina Devi (Kakching Khunou College) won three gold medals in 50 mtr Indian round, overall Indian round and elimination round events, while M Bikash Singh (Pole Star College) won a gold medal in 30 mtr Indian round event.

The duo then teamed up to secure bronze medal in mixed team Indian round event as MU secured third place in Overall position of the championship.

The archery team was led by B Surja Sharma as team manager and K Devananda as women's coach and H Bijendranath as men's coach.

On the other hand, Ningthoukhongjam William Singh (Naorem Birahari College) won a bronze medal with time of 1:24:01.46 in the 20 km walking race event in the athletics competition organised at Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS), Bhubaneswar from December 26 to 30.The athletics team was led by L Rajeshwor Singh as team manager and Okram Pari Meitei as team coach.
