Polo team of Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) exhibited its title triumph in the recently concluded N Hazari memorial polo tournament on its maiden entry was no fluke as it wrested the title of the 18th Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament with a comprehensive 8-3 thrashing of Tekcham Polo Club at Imphal Pologround today.
MPSC's victory in the final match of the Governor's Cup is also on its maiden venture.
While the eventual champions scored in all the four sessions, the second chukker remained barren for the Tekcham side for whom M Manihar found the mark in the opening and last chukker with S Sadananda scoring in the penultimate session.
For MPSC, S Bimol scored three followed two each from S Girimohan and T Pradeepkumar and one by S Somorjit.
Governor Dr SS Sidhu handed over the top prize and cash award of Rs 5000 to MPSC players.
runners-up Tekcham had to be content with Rs 2000 and rolling trophy.
In all eight teams competed in the tournament organised by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association since April 19 .
