Model Club beat YCC by 19 runs in Veteran Cricket

Imphal, December 21 2022: Model Club-Chingamakha defeated YCC-Wangkhei by 19 runs in a Group B match of the ongoing 19th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at Luker Ground, Imphal West.

Model Club won the toss and collected 162 runs for 8 in 30 overs and restricted YCC to 143 runs for 9 to seal the first win after losing in the hands of CYCLONE-Thangmeiband in their previous tie.

RK Chinglensa topscored for Model Club with 42 runs off 46 balls as G Suresh (36), S Bosco (22) and Th Bikramjit (12 not out) followed suit.

Irom Tejkumar was also unbeaten on 1 off 5 balls with Th Bikramjit as the innings came to an end for Model Club with 162 runs on the scoreboard.

Premananda was the pick of the YCC bowlers in Model Club's innings returning with best figures of 4/36 in 6 overs while L Everest, S Shantikumar, Ad Rakesh, G Sanjit picked up a wicket each.

In the chase, H Premananda (25), N Helendro (22), S Santikumar (14) tried their best to steer YCC towards the victory but RK Chinglensana (3/27 in 6 overs) and G Suresh (2/26 in 6 overs) derailed their dream and eventually they were restricted to 143 for 9 in allotted 30 overs.

I Tejkumar, Th Iboyaima and Th Ajit of Model Club also chipped in with a wicket apiece.

RK Chinglensana of Model Club who produced an all round performance (42 runs and 3 wickets) was adjudged man of the match.

NAPSA-Kha Imphal will play CYCLONE-Thangmeiband in a Group B match tomorrow.
