"Save Singju & Manipuri Pony" solo cycle rally flagged off

Wangjing Tentha AC MLA and chairman of MDS, Paonam Brojen today flagged off a solo cycle rally of Manikanta Mutum with the message of "Save Singju & Manipuri Pony" from Khongjom War Memorial Complex.
The cycle rally organised in connection with the upcoming Singju Festival 2022 to be held from December 28, 2022 to January 8, 2023 will go from Khongjom War Memorial Complex to Marjing Polo Complex, venue of the festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Paonam Brojen expressed his joy over the initiative to organise the Singju Festival to promote one of the indigenous foods of Manipur, "Singju" .
Elaborating on the health benefits of Singju, he stated that over-dependence on fast foods has many risks such as obesity, insulin resistance and various cardiovascular conditions.
The MLA further assured to provide all possible assistance in promoting indigenous foods that have both cultural and nutritional significance.
Solo walker Manikanta Mutum highlighted the need to promote indigenous foods of the State and added that preserving/promoting "Singju" will play a vital role in bringing a green revolution.
The flagging off ceremony was attended by Festival Committee Advisory Board member, Keke Wahengbam; convenor Rakesh Naorem; finance secretary Waikhom Bihari; media co-ordinator Ojit Sorokhaibam; social activist Dr Eteen Maibam; executive member Chongtham Jibanlata and Sobita Maibam among others.
