10th N Bhubon Memorial Football meet : TRAU outplay UBSA to champions lift trophy

TRAU, Kwakeithel outplayed a spirited UBSA, Mantak by a margin of 4 goals to nil in the final of 10th Norem Bhubon Memorial Football Tourna-ment riding on a brilliant three goal burst from Ng Ronal.
TRAU went ahead in the 9th minute of the match when Ng Ronal faced little opposition in placing the ball into the net of UBSA.
Stung by the early goal, UBSA put went on the offensive and started a series of well co-ordinated moves from both sides of the flank.
Their approach ultimately yielded dividends when Ronel was bang on target to find the equaliser in the 29th minute of the match.
After the equaliser, UBSA withdrew into their half and adopted a more defensive approach.
This gave ample opportunity to the TRAU players to find space and gaps to launch a series of attacks from both flanks.
Ng Ronal rose to the occasion to find the net in the 35th minute to take his team ahead again and the lemon break was taken with TRAU leading by two goals to one.
In the second half of the match, TRAU did not ease the pressure and Ng Ronal was at it again in the 47th minute when he found the target.
The two goals deficit did not dampen the spirit of UBSA players and they went out all the way to come back into the match, with Atlee giving them a glimmer of hope when he netted the ball in the 72nd minute.
Thungneihen of TRAU however took the match out of the reach of UBSA when he scored in the 82nd minute.
Parliamentary Secretary Victor Keishing attended the final match as chief guest while Kakching AC MLA Y Surchandra presided.
Fajur Rahim MLA from Wabagai AC and N Nopur Singh Proprietor of Bhubon Brick Field, Kakching attended as guests of honour.
TRAU as the champions walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the championship trophy while the runners up UBSA, Mantak had to settle for Rs 30,000 and a trophy.
The best manager tag went to Meghachandra of KTC (Rs 1000 along with a trophy) while the Udoy of SAI, SAG was adjudged the best goal keeper (Rs 1000 and a trophy).
The top scorer award was jointly conferred on Surjakanta of SAI, SAG and Ng Ronal of TRAU with four goals each, while the best midfielder title went to Surchand of TRAU.
Meino of TRAU bagged the man of the tournament award while the best defender title went to Lelen Kom of UBSA.
