Imphal, February 07 2014 :
The two Manipur Bhavans in New Delhi are in a sorry state with no competent authority to look after such symbolic buildings of the State.
The Bhavans located at Sadar Patel Marg and Bir Tikendrajit Marg in New Delhi are managed by the General Administrative Department (GAD) of State Government under the control of one Resident Commissioner.
The Bhavans have been set up primarily to provide accommodations to the people of the State during their visits to New Delhi and also showcase the State's rich art and culture in the National Capital.
However, the people from the State could not avail accommodation at the Bhavans without the favour of Ministers and MLAs.
The rooms are always reserved for the VVIPs and VIPs without any concern for the common people.
Above all, nothing significant about the rich and culture of the State could be traced at these Bhavans.
The canteen and other amenities of the Bhavans are being managed by the non-locals without any control of the State authorities.
Many people have expressed displeasure at the present condition of Manipur Bhavans.
The Bhavans of other northeastern states in the National Capital are well-managed and they are symbolic of their states' culture and traditions.
Moreover, the Resident Officer and other staffs of Manipur Bhavans do not attend their offices regularly.
They would turn up at the office only when the Ministers and MLAs visit New Delhi.
Otherwise, the common people would not get any opportunity to meet the officials.
