Fish farms worth Rs 178 crore destroyed

Thoubal, August 27 2024: Fish farms worth around Rs 178 crore were destroyed by floods recently in Thoubal district alone.

Moreover, 3644 hectares of paddy fields were also inundated and ruined by the floods.

According to a preliminary report collected from the District Agriculture Officer, Thoubal and the District Fishery Officer, 2030 hectares of fish farms in Lilong sub-division, 1285 hectares in Thoubal sub-division and 2623 hectares in Wangjing-Tentha sub-division were destroyed by floods.

Moreover, 3644 hectares of paddy fields located in the three sub-divisions were also ruined after they were inundated for several days, according to the same preliminary report.

More reports of damages done to paddy fields and fish farms are still coming.
