Senapati, January 27 2025:
No activities related to 'border fencing' along Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) will be allowed in the "Naga ancestral homeland", the United Naga Council (UNC) has said in a directive issued to the "Naga population" especially those falling under the jurisdiction of Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) .
It further called on the units and subordinate bodies of the UNC to initiate stringent steps to prevent border fencing activities in their respective jurisdictions in unison "without fear and favor" .
Any individual/organisation colluding with the im- plementing agents for favor, cooperation or providing assistance to the related departments will be viewed seriously and they will face dire consequences as per the standing resolution and position of the UNC, it warned.
Further, the "Naga population" in the State of Manipur shall "remain steadfast to fight against such sinister design of the colonial power to alienate the Nagas from their lands by the wild move of Government of India- construct- ing walls and fencing along the imaginary Indo-Myan-mar borders and be prepared for any eventualities", it said.
