Imphal, November 09 2008:
Reiterating its stand, Mapithel Dam Affected Ching-Tam Organisation (MDACTO) said that the issue will not be settled until the State Government fulfils the demands of the organisation.
Condemning the police action of November 3 against the rallyists that injured around 45 villagers including one struggling for life at Shija Hospitals, MDACTO also demanded a Judicial enquiry into the police action and to book the police personnel involved.
In a press release issued by Joint Secretary T Somorjit, MDACTO also demanded appropriate compensation for all the victims of the incident.
Conveying that one AS Lungmila is now lying in coma at Shija Hospitals with only five percent chance of survival after she was hit by a tear gas shell in the head on the day, MDACTO also demanded the State Government for all possible support to save the woman.
The release further said that Lamlai police station OC Wilson twisted the fingers of one Th Indu (65) of Itham and beat up brutally the woman with a bamboo stick repeatedly.
The OC did not even spare those who came in rescue of the elderly woman, it added.
It further said that Manipur police have been chasing the office bearers of MDACTO from the day of rally.
The organisation also expressed apprehension that the members would be levelled with false charges if they are arrested.
The MDACTO also demanded to withdraw the military personnel stationed at the affected areas.
