Auto drivers protest

Imphal, July 27 2015:
To show solidarity to the ongoing agitation demanding ILPS in the State, the All Manipur Auto Drivers' Association today staged protests at different places.
Besides, an auto rally was also held at different places.
The protest was staged at various auto parkings like Tera bazar area, Uripok, Mantripukhri, Canchipur, Jiri parking and other auto parkings.
A large number of auto rickshaws were seen parked at their respective parkings with banners demanding enforcement of Inner Line Permit System in the State.
They also demanded punishment of the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood.
The auto drivers also formed a human chain and raised slogans like "long live Manipur," "we demand ILPS," and "we condemn killing of a school student" .
Auto drivers gathered at Mantripukhri to stage a sit in protest at Mantripukhri community hall.
Auto drivers were also seen taking out protest rallies along various routes.
Around 50 auto-rickshaws which tried to proceed towards Imphal were prevented by a police team at Singjamei area.
Auto drivers of Uripok-Lamshang-Khurkhul Road Development Union staged a protest at Loitang Khunou auto parking.
Auto-rickshaws plying between Nambol and Imphal and others including inter-village auto services joined the protest today at Nambol.
They demanded implementation of ILPS and punishment of the police personnel involved in the killing of Robinhood.
They further pledged to support the movement spearheaded by JCILPS.
Meanwhile, Awang Jiri (Kabokhong) Meira Paibi and Awang Jiri Sports Association staged a sit-in today demanding implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
The protesters also demanded the immediate reopening of educational institutions and fitting punishment against the personnel involved in the killing of Robindhood.
The Awang Nongpok Naharol Lamjing Kanglup, Sawombung Thongkhong and Tamna Chingjoibi Meira Paibis have pledged to support and endorse any movement spearheaded by JCILPS for the protection of indigenous people of the State.
