Training of tribal Youth as 'social animators'

A 5-day "Training of Tribal Youth as Social Animators" is underway at RDS Training Centre, Khongjom.
The Training Programme is being organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandel under the aegis of Rajiv Gandhi Nation Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
At the inaugural function of the training programme, S.Sambhunath Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Chandel was the Chief Guest.

USYDA also attended the function as President and Guest of Honour respectively.

40 tribal youths representing Kuki, Maring, Anal, Kabui (Rongmei), Tangkhul and Chothe tribes from Senapati, Imphal East, Imphal West, Chandel and Bishnupur are participating in the training programme.
In his welcome and Keynote address, W.Ibohal Singh, District Youth Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandel highlighted the importance of organising such training programmes especially for the tribal youths.
The training is expected to impart knowledge on various programmes and schemes of tribes implemented by the various departments and agencies.
S.Sambhunath Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Chandel thanked the NYK Chandel and RGNIYD for taking up such new initiatives.
He further said that NYK is one of the largest organisations for empowering youths.
The youth should not miss the opportunities of attending such training organised by NYK.
The training programme covered various topics like Definition of Tribe; characteristics and features of tribes -Demographic Profile, Social Animation - Meaning and Utility, Tribal Policies, Programmes and Tribal Youth Empowerment, Tribal Situation - Problem analysis and Alternatives, Tribal Administration - Constitutional Safeguards pertaining to Tribes, Right to Information Act, Socio-Economic Situation of Tribal Youth of Manipur, Educational and Other Schemes for Tribes, Personality Development, Leadership Issues among Tribes in Manipur, Displacement Impact Analysis, Livelihood Issues, Gender Discrimination, Ethnic Rivalry, Discrimination against Tribes etc.
The participants will be familiarized through lecture, participatory exercises, powerpoint presentations, field visits, group discussions etc.
