Imphal, January 27 2015:
The operation of the Indian Army at Chingjao, an islet located in the middle of Pumlen pat under Waikhong Police Station in Thoubal district, continued for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.
Considered to be one of the biggest operations of the Indian Army on the soil of Manipur in 3 years, absence of any State police personnel during the operation has reportedly created panic and apprehension among the villagers of the surrounding areas.
The villagers have not been able to venture out of their houses for their day-to-day activities.

According to information received by the press, the operation started in the morning of January 25 .
Although used of unmanned aircraft and helicopters and bombing of suspected UG hideouts have been stopped since yesterday, personnel of Indian Army including that of 22 Assam Rifles are still continuing their search operation at Chingjao and its surrounding villagers.
