Imphal, January 27 2015:
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam flagged off a North-East Tour 2015 from Haipou Jadonang Park located at Keishampat today.
The tour was organised by' the Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Nagaland and Manipur).
Altogether 35 delegates participated in the tour and would visit neighbouring States of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya.
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy CM said that such expedition and tour would bring cordial relations amongst the Zeliangrong communities of the neighbouring States.
Moreover it would bridge the gap between the different communities of the Zeliangrong tribes settled in various parts of the NE region.
Meanwhile, interacting with media persons after the flagging off ceremony he said that the Police Department took up high security measures to thwart any untoward incidents during the Republic Day celebration.
And as a result no severe blast with any casualties occurred, he added.
He further said that the blast might have been just a show off to the public to make their presence felt.
"They must have realized that harming the public would only distance them, so the blast occurred in places where there were less civilians", the Deputy CM added.
Quoting police reports, he said that five of the blasts that occurred on the Republic Day were of low intensity.
The appeals of the public to stop shedding blood must have reached them and they seem to understand, he said.
He appealed to all sections of the society to work towards the development of the society and to usher in a peaceful atmosphere.
