An understanding has been reached between the Joint Action Committee, Ningthoukhong and the Government of Manipur today in the matter of agitation launched by the JAC in protest against the killing of Miss RK Thoibisana D/o RK Ajitkumar of Ningthoukhong.
The Government of Manipur will institute immediate Magisterial Enquiry into the killing of RK Thoibisana, and injury caused to RK Ajitkumar to be completed within one month.
The Government of Manipur will extend assistance by sanctioning ex-gratia of Rs 1,00,000/- to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 10,000 only to the injured.
The government will consider replacement of BSF camp by another SF Camp at greater Ningthoukhong area in due course.
The JAC also agrees to suspend the agitation launched by them in view of the said understanding reached with the state government.
After the agreement was reached the dead body of the girl was cremated at her local crematorium at Ningthoukhong.
Large numbers of people attended the funeral.
The Tiddim road bandh has also been called off after the agreement was reached.
The DIG of BSF P K Misra today said the girl was killed in an encounter and he received information that about 11 cadres of MPLF were present at the area where the girl was killed.
Misra said the militants are trying to defame the BSF by attacking in the market areas so that the BSF would retaliate and kill people.
The BSF personnel have to retaliate and fire he pointed out.
Misra speaking to the media today afternoon said a woman cadre was also present in the area who was giving information about the movements of the security forces.
Even the Meira Paibis are giving information about the movement of the military he said.
