Murder of cousin brother Case handed to CID (CB)

The case of a man killing his cousin brother was handed over to CID, Crime Branch, Imphal from Singjamei PS .
At the same time, the accused, Laishram Veerjit was formally arrested by CID Crime Branch after he was produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West-I today.
The accused Laishram Veerjit alias Chaoba (32) s/o Dr Laishram Ranbir of Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai, who is a Sub Inspector of Manipur Police on probation after completing his training at Shillong some months back, was produced before Alek Muivah, Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal West-I by a team of CID Crime Branch and Investigating Officer of Singjamei police station regarding the case.
The accused was produced before the Court under Cril Misc case number 61 of 2016 with reference FIR Number 58(3) 2016 Singjamei Police Station under Section 365/302 IPC and 27 Arms Act.
A Sub-Inspector of CID, Crime Branch filed a petition before the Court praying to grant eight more days (till April 11) police custodial remand for the accused.
A copy of the order issued by the DGP Manipur transferring the present case from Singjamei Police Station to CID Crime Branch was also submitted before the Court.
APP of the Court submitted before the Court that further custody of the accused Laishram Veerjit is needed for re-examination, re- inspection and recording of confessional statement which are to be done independently by CID Crime Branch.
Judge of Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal West- I heard the submission of the APP and examined the accused regarding the case.
The allegation against the accused is that the accused on March 29 at around 12.15 noon had forcibly taken the victim, his cousin brother, Laishram Chinglemba alias Naopa (26) s/o Govind from the same locality on his white Maruti Swift car at gun point using his service weapon and shot him to dead at Mongsangei Makha Leikai.
The accused brought the dead body of his cousin brother in his car and surrendered before SDPO Singjamei PS.
The Court after perusing the petition and hearing the APP observed that further police custody may be required.
The Court decided to remand the accused person to 4 days (till April 7) police custody for further investigation and also directed the investigation officer of CID Crime Branch to conduct periodical medical check up as per law.
The Court also directed CID Crime Branch to produce the accused before the Court on April 7 at 11.30 am.
Later, the accused was formally arrested by CID Crime Branch today.
