The first ever week-long Manipur Industrial Expo, 2016 organised by Commerce and Industries Dept, Govt of Manipur began today at Lamboi Khongnangkhong.
About 600 entrepreneurs took part in the expo.
Speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural session of the expo, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam said that the Manipur Industrial Expo, 2016 will go a long way in industrial and entrepreneurs' development in the State.
He said that foundation stone for establishment of industrial estates in three districts will be laid on April 9.Besides, establishment of industrial estates in three other districts has also been sanctioned.
Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, MLA L Nandakumar, MLA W Brajabidhu, Secretary (Textiles), GoI, Rashmi Verma, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore and DC (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, GoI Alok Kumar were the president and guests of honour of the inaugural function.
Meanwhile, many stall owners faced untold difficulties as the venue was covered with mud due to rain.
IOC also opened a stall in the expo.
State level Coordinator, IOC, Manipur SI Singh said that the IOC stall has been opened with an objective to spread the activities of the Corporation in the State.
Different activities of the Corporation will be put on display.
