Driver abducted Family appeals for release, TNZL warns

A 38 year old man, a driver by profession, who was abducted by unidentified persons more than a month ago from a spot between Sinakeithei and Shongbel in Ukhrul district remains traceless even after so many days.
The abducted driver is identified as Chinaoshang (38) of Pharung village, Ukhrul.
The Tangkhul Naga Zingtun Longphang (western Tangkhul villages, TNZL) chairman Mangang Raman has warned that they would launch a series of agitation if he not released before April 10 .
According to family members, he was engaged as a truck driver for transporting stone and sand in the ongoing PMGSY road construction from Sinakeithei to Leisan village.
It is reported that the abductors have served a ransom notice to the sub-contractor P Zimik through the telephone for his release, informed family members.
Friends of the abducted driver said that on March 3, an unidentified youth warned him not to transport any material for the ongoing road construction and on the same day at around 11 pm, three well armed persons picked him up from the makeshift camp.
The family has lodged an FIR at Litan police station, yet even after a month of his abduction, he is till traceless.
The family and TNZL have appealed to the group/individual responsible for his abduction to release him without further delay.
Issue or problems have to be resolved through dialogue and not through violence, they said.
The State Government should immediately take up measures to arrest the miscreants and check the anti-social elements hampering development works, they said.
The wife of the abducted driver said that her husband was hired by the contractor to transport road construction material and after he was abducted she and her 7 year old daughter have been living in fear and apprehension.
She fervently appealed to the group/individual responsible to spare her husband on humanitarian ground.
