Imphal, October 30 2026: The Mera Hou Chongba Festive Fair, 2026 organised by District Handlooms & Textiles, Imphal East under the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, Manipur, which began from October 24 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen, concluded today.

The closing function of the 7-day festive fair was attended by Deputy Director (Handloom), Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, Th Basanta; Project Manager (Handloom), District Handlooms and Textiles, Phijam Kangjamba Meitei; and Commercial Officer, Officer-in-charge, NHDC Imphal, Salam Nehru; and HERICOUN president Y Surjitkumar Khuman as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Th Basanta said the fair was organised with the aim of bringing weavers and artisans from hills and valley to a common platform and promoting market linkage.

Altogether 42 stalls displayed and sold handloom and handicraft products to the public.

It was informed that some stalls recorded sales of over Rs 1.5 lakh, making the festive fair a successful one.

Discussion programmes were also held on the relation between Mera Hou Chongba and handloom and handicraft.
