Tamenglong, July 14 2010: With the absence of head of the concerned department, no one has cared for the roads in Tamenglong and as a consequence of the bad condition of the roads, suspension of Tamenglong-Tamei passenger bus service has crossed 46th day today.

Maintenance of Tamenglong to Tamei (IT) road is the responsibility of Public Works Department, Tamenglong division, and this department has been defunct in Tamenglong district.

The example of the PWD Tamenglong Division's non-functional is seen at Tamenglong bazar too.

Town roads have been turned into rivers where water flows and remains stagnant in the pot-holes.

Even a small mudslide remains for a month.

The local people have to clear the mudslide, drainage along the bazar under NREGS.

When this reporter visited the PWD Tamenglong around 11.24 am today, only two staffs were found in the office.

One of the staffs said that the PWD Tamenglong has 22 staff employees including Executives Engineer, head of the department.

Executive Engineer, A Biramani, who was posted at Tamenglong Division on September 2008 rarely comes to his office, sources said.

However, their salaries were said to have regular.

It may be recalled here that the on the joining day of A Biramani Singh as EE (PWD) Tamenglong the Zeliangrong Student's Union Manipur and its unit Tamenglong district got irritates over non posting of Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineers, SOs and other technical staff of this department and pay was held up but the problems was settled on the agreement that atleast 15 days should attend their office.

The staff also revealed that the work order is known only A.Biramani Singh, EE (PWD) and Sarath Sing, SO (PWD).

The technical staffs also failed to check up the numbers of development works taken up in the district.

To the query the staffs also reveals that there are numbers of development works taken up in the district, funds are also available though the staff denied to mentioned the amount.

With the early monsoon in the district all roads were become very awful, however, no one care for the roads.

And as consequence Tamenglong to Tamei passenger bus has been suspend since 29 May 2010.Source said that apart from numerous of landslides, all culverts were broke downs, roads were turned to river and valley.

Tamenglong to Khongsang road also turned to awful state.

Apart from numerous landslides many pothole were found.

After handling of Tamenglong to Khongsang road from the BRTF to the PWD Tamenglong Division no maintenance was found.
