Nishikant Sapam fetes Ambedkar awardee Shanti Leima

Imphal, January 14 2026: Keishamthong Assembly Constituency MLA Nishi-kant Singh Sapam extended a warm welcome to Dr Ambedkar Fellowship National Award 2025 recipient Soraisham Shanti Leima at his residence located at Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai today.

Notably, the Dr Ambedkar Fellowship National Award 2025 was conferred to S Shanti Leima by the Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi (BDSA), New Delhi.

The Keishamthong AC MLA presented S Shanti Leima with a shawl and a bouquet on the occasion.

He lauded the award recipient and noted her contributions in the upliftment of women and her role as a meira paibi during tumultuous situations in the State.

Meanwhile, Shanti stated she worked tirelessly in public service during the Covid pandemic, Dengue outbreak as well as the ongoing Manipur crisis.

She has also launched and participated in various programmes to improve the economic condition of women in the State.

Women members of Team Nishikant were present at the felicitation ceremony.
