Mortal remains of Longjam Naocha who sustained a grievous head injury on his own bed in a bomb attack by Kuki militants on July 25 before succumbing the next day was laid to rest with customary rituals today at his native village, Phougakchao Ikhai.
Naocha, son of late Longjam Borbabu suffered grievous head injury from the splinters of a bomb which exploded overhead while he was sleeping on his bed in his own room on July 25 morning and was rushed to Raj Medicity.
He died the next day.
Thousands lined up along Tiddim road and paid homage to the Class XI student of Moirang Multipurpose Hr Secondary School as his body was brought for the last rite at his village.
Kumbi AC MLA S Premchandra also led other villagers of Phougakchao Ikhai in paying floral tribute to Naocha at Torbung Lamthabung before his body was buried with a gun salute offered by village defence volunteers.
Grieving grandfather of Naocha, Longjam Ingocha expressed strong resentment over the inaction of the State and the Central Government in the face of rampant violence by Kuki militants.
"If you are not going to act, then let us wage this war.
We can fight these devils even only with swords but the integrity of Manipur should not be disturbed under any circumstances," he added.
