Lamka, August 21 2015 :
All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has flayed Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) for the ongoing agitation.
The tribal student body said the stir had turned violent in many areas where vehicles belonging to the hill districts have been targeted and vandalized by those enforcing the strike.
In statement, ATSUM said the tribals wanted peaceful co-existence but was disheartened over the manner in which JCILPS supporters and agitators turned the agitation violent.
With a view to maintain peace and harmony among all sections of the society, tribal leaders have decided not to allow organizing bandhs, blockades and rally in the hill districts particularly in Churachandpur and Chandel under any pretext without their consent.
The tribal students alleged that the Meitei Council Moreh unfortunately violated the hill leader's decision and agreement and alleged that four were injured in gunfire on August 18.ATSUM further claimed that hill areas (Outer Manipur) had been "inhabited by tribal people, they have been independent rule by their tribal chief or khulakpa since time immemorial" .
