317 people hurt in ILPS stir; 69 on hunger strike

Imphal, August 21 2015 :
ILPS movement continued unabated on Friday with some 317 people reported to have sustained injuries while enforcing various tactics of agitation.
Out of the 317, 18 of them are said to be seriously injured during the intensified agitation while 69 individuals are now on hunger strike and fast unto death protests.
Among the injured, 297 were treated at different hospitals and later discharged.
One person is still undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The number of hunger strikers, who are demanding Inner Line Permit System (ILPS), has climbed up to 69 on Friday.

Among them, 41 have been pulled up by the police on the charge of attempting to commit suicide.
Fasting is carried out by 32 people in Imphal East, 27 in Imphal West and 10 in Thoubal district.
Among them, 23 have been admitted to RIMS for medical treatment as their health condition deteriorated.
Nine of the hunger strikers are staging protests at the headquarters office of Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Keishampat, four at Lairikyengbam Leikai, Khurai, two each at Yairipok, Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy, Nongmeibung and near Eastern Motors, Chingmeirong, one each at Singjamei Wangma Khetri Leikai, Khongman Mangjil and near Thangmeiband Thau Ground and three at Thoubal.
