Minister lays foundation stones for hostels

Foundation stones for two separate boys and girls hostels were laid today by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and MOBC Minister Md Allaudin Khan at Lilong Haoreibi College.
A function was also held to mark the event inside the auditorium of Haoreibi College where MOBC Minister Md Allaudin Khan and MOBC Commissioner JC Ramthanga were chief guest and president respectively.
Addressing the function Allaudin Khan said that the incumbent Government led by Chief Minister O Ibobi has been paying special attention to development of minorities and hill areas.
Stating that several development programmes have been taken up in Lilong AC too at his initiative under instruction from the Chief Minister, Allaudin informed the gatherin that efforts were on upgrade Lilong Nagar Panchayat and Moirang Nagar panchayat to the level of Municipal Councils.
The estimated cost of the two hostels would be Rs 1.45 crore each and it would be jointly funded by the Union Ministry of Minority, Social Justice and Empowerment and the State MOBC Department, said Allaudin Khan.
So far, the State Government has released Rs 75 lakhs each for the two hostels.
The function was also attended by former Speaker Dr Maniruddin Sheikh, Manipur State Minority Commission Chairman A Helim Choudhury, Haoreibi College Principal Khalilur Rehman and Director Education (U) RK Yaiskul.
