Imphal, September 12 2011:
Although Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme has been implemented for all Government employees, many employees in Education (S) Department are approaching retirement age without ever getting any benefits of ACP scheme.
According to information culled from Education (S) Department, there are around 222 employees in the Department who are qualified to enjoy ACP scheme benefits.
The ACP scheme was introduced by the State Government to give higher pay scales to employees occupying the same posts who otherwise should be promoted every 12 years.
Following introduction of the scheme, the Education Director issued an order on October 27, 2008 and gave higher pay scales to 404 employees of Education Department under the same scheme.
Other employees who were also qualified to get ACP benefits were, however, left out by the order on account of unfit documents.
These left out employees were later authenticated as deserving employees for ACP benefits after verification of their documents.
Counting these left out employees, there are now 222 employees in Education Department who are eligible to get ACP benefits, conveyed the source.
Education (S/Valley) Additional Director sent a representation to the Secretary, Education (S) on July 22 this year to form a screening committee and complete all the formalities so that all the deserving employees are given ACP benefits.
However, nothing has been done till date in response to the Additional Director's written appeal.
Out of these 222 employees, some are set to retire by January next year.
As such, these employees who have been working for the last many years are most likely to retire from their posts without ever getting any benefits of ACP scheme.
