Concerned over the alleged negligence while executing PMGSY and other projects in Saikul Assembly Constituency, Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai (KISG) has today said that civil bodies of Saikul will begin monitoring the project works in the area, reports our correspondent.
Speaking to media persons, Thangkam Lupheng, president, KISG lamented that PMGSY and other projects in Saikul AC have been implemented inefficiently.
Blaming the below schedule rate quotation by the agencies or contractors concerned during tender process, Thangkam Lupheng said that contractors or agencies willing to work in Saikul AC must strictly adhere to the prescribed guidelines and rules starting from the tender process.
"Any work agencies or contractors willing to work in Saikul AC should not quote unreasonably below the scheduled rate at the time of the tender process", cautioned Lupheng and added that people of Saikul will no more tolerate such individualistic attitude of the agencies or contractors.
He also warned the department concerned not to entertain such work agencies or contractors who had submitted tenders below the scheduled rate for any development project in Saikul AC.
He recounted the incident of Tribal Market Complex building at Saikul bazar which was damaged in the event of the recent earthquake and pointed out that the disappointing incident could have been averted had the assigned engineers and department concerned given due emphasis to the qualitative aspect while constructing the market building.
He said that in order to prevent such disheartening incident in future, civil bodies of Saikul under the leadership of Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai would start monitoring the developmental works taken up in Saikul AC.
