Imphal, February 07 2016:
Father of the slain KCP-MC (Nongdrenkhomba) cadre, Salam Khomba has sought Government help for his daughter-in-law and her three-month-old infant.
Khomba's son Salam Sanajaoba (28) of Sadu Yengkhoman Mayai Leikai was shot dead by unknown persons on February 4 night.
He was a cadre of KCP-MC (Nongdrenkhomba) which is currently under an MoU with the State Government with all their cadres camping at a designated camp at Moirang Khunou.
Salam Khomba told reporters that his son had no enmity with anybody and took up even odd jobs to support his family.
The bereaved father said that his son married last year and he is survived by a three-month infant and his wife.
He asked the group concerned to clarify why his son had been killed.
He also pleaded the Government to arrest the culprits involved in the killing at the earliest.
Khomba said that though his son was a cadre of KCP-MC (Nongdrenkhomba), he stayed at home most of the time after he got married.
However, he went to their designated camp some time back and returned home on February 2 .
On February 4 at around 7.10 pm, when Sanajaoba was about to have dinner with his mother, wife and younger brother, a masked man barged into their house and asked Sanajaoba to go along with him.
When Sanajaoba enquired the man what the matter was, another masked man came inside the house and forcibly took him away and locked the house from outside, Khomba said.
The two unknown persons also broke two bulbs before they left the house, he added.
As Sanajaoba's wife and mother shouted for help, one of his younger brothers came there and opened the door, he added.
After the family raised an alarm, villagers rang the electric poles and tried to follow the unknown persons.
However, they heard some gunshots after around five minutes, Khomba said.
When the villagers rushed towards the direction from where gunshots were coming, they found Sanajaoba shot dead there, he lamented.
