Imphal, February 07 2016:
Democratic Students Alliance (Desam) ushered in its new office bearers for the term 2016-18 in an induction ceremony held at Sana Konung today.
Moirangthem Angamba Meitei, M Anand, Y Yaiphaba and N Edison took oath as the president, vice-presidents and secretary general along with 72 other executive members at the ceremony.
Titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba registered the oaths.
Wishing the new members a successful term Leishemba Sanajaoba said the present trend of private tuition among young students must be discussed.
The titular king is of the opinion that class discussions and explanations should be sufficient for both college and school students.
Not only are these extra classes pricy, they drain the students both mentally and physically, he noted.
The issue needs urgent discourse at State level, Sanajaoba stated.
He urged students bodies of the State to seek a plausible solution for the matter at the earliest.
Moirangthem Angamba Meitei who will take over as the alliance president for the second term said the alliance will urge State Government to form a private school policy to check the climbing number of private schools in the State.
