Ratankumar inspects site for Manipur House in Rongpur

Works and Transport Minister Kh Ratankumar on Monday inspected the site for constructing Manipur House in Rongpur, Silchar, Assam.
S Nandakishor, former President of All Assam Manipuri Students' Union (AAMSU)/Advisor; All Assam Manipuri Women Meira Paibi Co-Ordination Committee, Silchar (AAMWMPCOC); RK Ranendrajit Editor, Freedom; Advocate Y Ratan, President CADA; S Herajit President All Assam Manipuri Students' Union (AAMSU) were part of the inspection team.
Ronpur is situated along the National Highway and the place is suitable for the construction of House which will benefit not only for VIPs but also to Manipur and Cachar students, said team members.
All Assam Manipuri Students' Union (AAMSU) President S Herajit said, the Union and All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) have been demanding the Government of Manipur to construct a Manipur House in Assam for the last many years.
The Chief Minister had also assured constructing the House but due to some financial constraint, the Government could not take up the step.
The proposed area of the land to be acquired will be 24 Bighas.
It may be mentioned that Minister Kh Ratankumar met with the civil society organizations of Cachar in the past during his visit to Silchar and most of the organizations also expressed the desire for constructing Manipur House at Rongpur.
