Cabinet takes key decisions

In an effort to prevent shortage of fertilizers for farmers, the State Cabinet on Tuesday decided to release required fund for procuring 15,000 MT of Urea fertilizers as buffer stock for summer crops.
This was decided during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister O Ibobi at the Chief Minister's Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
The amount to be released for procuring the Urea stock is Rs 4,38,80,850 and the stock will be bought from Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited, Namrup, Assam.
The cabinet also resolved to lift the ban on the recruitment of candidates for the 113 vacant posts for various District Institution of Teacher Education (DIET) Centres and begin recruitment on need-basis.
This was announced by CAF&PD Minister Moirangthem Okendro after the meeting.
The minister said that out of 113 posts required for various DIET Centres, 49 will be for DIET Imphal East Centre.
The rest of the posts will be filled up so as support the functioning of the rest of the District DIET Centres.
The DIET Imphal East Centre was established under the 90% Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) Restructuring and Re-organization of Teachers' Education.
The cabinet meeting also decided to constitute a team led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Senapati for acquiring 100 acre land for the construction of IIIT.
The land will be acquired through direct purchase system.
The meeting also decided to form a committee under DC Thoubal for Direct Purchase of 16 hactre land for the construction of 400 KV Sub-Station.
For the project "Development of Integrated Mega Tourist Circuit for Marjing, Polo-Kaina-Khebaching (Khongjom) in Manipur", the cabinet also decided to allow Direct Purchase of 12.5 acres at Kaina Village.
Similarly, the cabinet also cleared the acquisition of 98.86 acres for a project under Commerce & Industries Department in Bishnupur District's Tera Urak, Tengkhal Khunou; 176.7 acres at Kakching Khullen; 223.3 acres at Thoubal Laijing through Direct Purchase and 7.28 acres for the construction of Border Haat at the border town Moreh.
