Rotary public waiting shed inaugurated at Kpi

Rotary Club of Imphal, which has always engraved its signature in various social activities and other social services to improve the life of the people, inaugurated a public waiting shed today morning at Kangpokpi District.
As part of its unceasing noble activities for the people, the Rotary Club of Imphal in collaboration with the Kangpokpi Town Committee (KTC) constructed a Rotary Public Waiting Shed in the heart of Kangpokpi District Headquarters along the NH-2, near M Thomas Ground, with an aim to serve commuters, student community.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Lalithambigai K, DC, Kangpokpi as chief guest while Rev Y Haokip, vice-chairman, KTC and Rtn Th Arunkumar, Assistant Governor (Zone IX), Rotary International District 3240 as guest of honour and Rtn Dr Th Sudhiranjan, president, Rotary Club of Imphal as functional president.
Members of KTC, leaders of local bodies including KWWO and KYU also attended the inaugural function.
Lalithambigai K inaugurated the waiting shed in the presence of various other dignitaries and declared open the waiting shed for public use.
The IAS officer while appreciating the contribution of Rotary Club of Imphal for the welfare of the people urged everyone to promote and encourage such noble activities in their respective place and wish the Rotary Club of Imphal to come up with more noble activities in the future.
Rtn Dr Th Sudhiranjan, president, RCI said that Rotary Club is more than a century old International Club formed in 1905 at Chicago, USA with its primary motto "Service Above Self" and its secondary motto "One profits most who serves best".
It celebrated its 114th year helping communities worldwide in February this year.
It has 32,000 member clubs in the world with 1.22 million members known as Rotarians.
He also said that Rotary Club is a non-political and non-sectarian organization open to all people regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, or political preference.
He further said that the objectives of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and to encourage and foster the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service, high ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society and the application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life.
While lauding the efforts and services of RCI and especially for the construction of Public Waiting Shed in the town, KTC Secretary, Khotinmang Thangeo further encouraged them to strive higher in their endeavour and set good example for others to emulate.
