Imphal, December 14 2014:
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has expressed concern on not being provided a copy of the report submitted by All Political Parties Committee on ILPS to the Government.
In a statement, JCILPS publicity committee convenor Waikhom Ananda said that although it is laudable that a report has been prepared and submitted to the Government within a short period of time, it is a matter of concern that the recommended points mentioned in the said report have not been given to the JCILPS despite earlier assurances.
Expressing confidence that the State Government would introduce the points suggested in the report during the Winter Session of the State Assemnly scheduled to start from December 18, Ananda said that any effort to sideline or delay the issue would increase people's distrust against the Government.
He added that JCILPS in association with local clubs and meira paibi bodies would take up various measures to check non-locals residing at different localities from January 1, 2015 till a law similar to ILPS is fully enforced in the State.
Saying that verification drives of non-locals are going on at different localities, Ananda urged the non-locals to extend co-operation to JCILPS in this regard.
He said that these verification drives are necessary as a large number of non-locals are still coming to the State on the Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Silchar highways everyday.
