Imphal, March 04 2015:
Though not fully satisfied, the JCILPS said it is not fully satisfied with the decision to extend Assembly session to facilitate introduction of a Bill to safeguard indigenous people of the State.
A statement issued by W Anand Meetei, convener, publicity committee of JCILPS said the Committee wants the Govt to discuss the five points raised by the Committee which were already placed before the Govt. The issue of migrants influx, a factor responsible for demographic imbalance in the State must be discussed, the JCILPS demanded.
The law which would be considered for enactment should ensure protection and safeguarding the indigenous population.
Any law that is not capable of protecting the future generation might not be accepted by the JCILPS and the people, it conveyed.

Issuing of a pass or permit to all the non indigenous people who come in the State, making the cut of base year to 1951, no land ownership right to non indigenous people, to make the Labour Department a full fledged one for proper registration of migrant workers and detection of non indigenous people and to deport them to their native States and inclusion of these points in the Bill are the demands made by the JCILPS.
Asserting that all hope and trust cannot be reposed as of now in the Govt which shows lack of political commitment, the JCILPS also urged the people to closely observe the move of the Govt in this regard and remain alert for any further movement in case the need arises.
