Bill likely on March 13 : RK Imo

Congress MLA RK Imo has said that a long-cherished dream of the people of Manipur will be fulfilled if a Bill regarding protection of indigenous people and regulation of immigrants is passed by the State Assembly on March 16 .
The MLA was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a community hall at Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Lairenjam Leirak Keli Makhong as chief guest.
RK Imo said that as announced by the Chief Minister in the Assembly yesterday, the State Government is likely to introduce the Bill on March 13 .
Expressing hope that the Bill will get unanimous support from all the MLAs, RK Imo said that the Bill does not mean blocking the entry of immigrants but regulating their entry and protection of indigenous people and their culture.
Saying that the report submitted by the All Political Parties Committee on ILPS has already been consented to by the State Cabinet, RK Imo said that the committee considered the opinions and suggestions of legal experts and academicians in preparing the report.
However, the State Government took time in preparing the Bill as the issue is sensitive, he added.
Regarding the community hall, the MLA said that it would be ready before next Yaoshang festival.
Sagolband Lairenjam Leirak Akham Leikai Development Committee president L Manichandra and local elder Chirom Ibomcha attended the function as guest of honour and president respectively.
