The ambitious new road constructed by Socio Economic Development Organisation (SEDO) to connect the remote Henglep subdivisional headquarters with the district headquarters today completed halfway as it reached Mongken, a village untouched by any form of motorable road heads before.
The villagers welcomed the road connectivity reaching them by organising a grand feast today.
The village said to be located midway of the proposed road is about 20 kms from here.

SEDO leaders on their part thanked all the donors and villagers who stood by them till this day.
'The feat was not ours but of our collective efforts,' said SEDO Chairman.
He also shared his thoughts on the tasks ahead and called on the people to continue their support of the mission which was rooted with solemn objective of stirring the much needed socio and economic development to the lesser privileged, remotely located and the deprived people of the region.
The road on reaching midway touched around 13 villages so far, most of which are untouched by any form of motorable road heads.
In a press communique, SEDO said, 'our mission, the most ambitious of SEDO to date, is weighty and challenging as it involves investment which we at times assume are beyond our means.
Yet we deem it a challenge as we at no point of time doubt its return - of its capacity to generate dividends on the socioeconomic life of the people whose lives it will soon be touching, and would unravel wonders' .
'Still we shall not shy to acknowledge the need for a renewed impetus from all stakeholders, our donors, the general public, the concerned villages and its dwellers, and certainly from the Government whose resources we believe are abundant if not limitless, to take our mission to its logical end,' it said adding, the project was merely a dream but the power of the people has inspired that dream to take shape, and they now have no qualms of its merit, of saving lives, of advance education, of better connectivity, and of economic prosperity.
A visibly moved village chief D Henkhomang Haokip claimed that the long cherished dream of the village has been fulfilled and added to his happiness, he said was, renowned political and social leaders who can now come to them in the village through the road.
